What is Hyperliquid, and how do you chart it?

Hyperliquid is a layer one blockchain with fully on-chain order books for perpetual futures and spot trading. Its perpetuals pay funding every hour. You trade on Hyperliquid itself. TradingTwo is a separate charting tool that draws its perpetuals with funding and open interest, and it does not place orders.

What it is

Hyperliquid describes itself as a layer one blockchain "written and optimized from first principles", with fully on-chain perpetual futures and spot order books. Where most traders use an exchange run by a company, orders here are placed against an order book that lives on the chain.

A perpetual future ("perp") is a contract on a coin's price that never expires, so a trader can hold a long or short position for as long as the margin lasts. Funding is the payment that keeps a perp's price close to the coin's price.

How its perps work, in brief

  • Funding every hour. Hyperliquid pays funding hourly, and each hourly payment is one eighth of the computed eight-hour rate. It is capped at 4% an hour.
  • Margin. Cross margin is the default and shares collateral across your cross positions. Isolated margin limits an asset's collateral to that asset. You set leverage as a whole number from 1 up to a maximum that depends on the asset.
  • Liquidation. A position that runs low on margin is closed. Hyperliquid triggers liquidations using a mark price that blends outside exchange prices with its own order book, so the mark price can differ from the book price in fast markets.

How to chart Hyperliquid

In TradingTwo you search for a Hyperliquid perpetual, add it to a Watchlist, and open it. The price chart takes your indicators. The funding rate and open interest panes sit underneath. You can set alerts on price, funding rate and open interest. See the Hyperliquid chart features.

Trading perpetual futures with leverage can lose more than you expect, quickly. Nothing on this site is financial advice, and TradingTwo is not affiliated with Hyperliquid.
