Crypto profit and loss calculator

Enter how much you invested, the price you bought at, the price you sold at and the trading fee. The calculator gives your net profit or loss, your return, and the sell price at which you break even once fees are paid. It works for any coin and runs in your browser.

Charged on the buy and again on the sale. Leave blank for no fee.

Nothing you type leaves your browser. This is arithmetic, not advice, and it is not tax advice.

How it is calculated

units = amount invested / buy price cost = amount invested x (1 + fee) net = units x sell price x (1 - fee) - cost break-even sell price = buy price x (1 + fee) / (1 - fee)

Worked example. You invest $1,000 at a price of 100, so you hold 10 units. With a 0.1% fee, the buy costs $1,001. You sell at 150 for $1,500 and pay $1.50 in fees on the sale, so you keep $1,498.50. Net profit is $497.50, a return of about 49.7% on the $1,001 you paid. To break even you needed to sell at about 100.20.

What it leaves out

  • Taxes. It does not calculate them.
  • Funding and margin. It is a plain buy-and-sell sum. A perpetual future position held across funding times pays or earns more than shown.
  • Fixed transfer and network fees. The fee is a percent of each trade. A flat fee in dollars is not counted.

Questions

How do I calculate crypto profit?

Divide the amount you invested by the buy price to get the number of units. Multiply the units by the sell price, take off the fees, and subtract what you paid. The calculator does each step.

What is the break-even price?

The sell price at which your net result after fees is zero. With a fee on both trades it sits a little above your buy price.

Are my numbers saved or sent anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser.
